| Some Examples of Cosmic Queens We have made many lists of women we think of as Cosmic Queens. Among them: Eleanor Roosevelt, Joan of Arc, Mother Theresa, Georgia O'Keefe. We think of contemporary women like Julia Roberts, who gave her time and her money to the Sept. 11 funds, and to Rosie O'Donnell, who helped revive theater on Broadway. Powerful women can help many causes in many ways. Their efforts are an inspiration to us all. Check out information on Jane Goodall and her life-long work to nurture and to save chimpanzees. You can volunteer or donate to her organizations by calling the Jane Goodall Institute at 1-800-592-JANE. Celebrity Cosmic Queens We are proud that some celebrities wear and support Cosmic Queen. Singer Deana Carter, and actresses Vanessa Marcil and Constance Zimmer are some of our beauty-is-as-beauty-does role models. Not only do they work hard; they know how important it is to give to the community. Cosmic Queen Reading Check out Cool Women, a book edited by Pam Nelson, written by Dawn Chipman, Mari Florence, and Naomi Wax. Designed by Amy Inouye. It is "The Thinking Girl's Guide to the Hippest Women in History" (Girl's Press Books). Some of the women inside include Margaret Bourke-White, Lucille Ball, Harriet Tubman, Mae West and Margaret Sanger. If you don't know who they are, make it a point to find out. Not so Everyday Cosmic Queens Do you know a Cosmic Queen? Would you like others to know about her? Please let us know about special women doing special work and we will pass the word along on our site in the very near future. |
